Do you need more Points?

If you get your assessment back and it says that you don’t have enough points, there are several things that you could consider.

Sometimes, all you have to do is to improve English and/or French language skills. If you did not include language test results, our assessment is based only on your own interpretation of your skills and does not reflect the reality. If you cannot judge for yourself, we suggest that you register for the test and find out where you stand.

If you have only secondary education, chances are that you will not have enough points. In that case, you may need an offer of employment from Canadian company, either to get a temporary work permit or to support your permanent residence. Your chances of getting employment offer will depend on your occupation and experience. Not every occupation is in demand in Canada and not every employer will get his offer of employment approved by Service Canada (former Human Resources and Skills Development Canada – HRSDC).

You may have close relatives in Canada (brother, sister, parents, aunt, uncle). If you do, you could get points under the adaptability factor.

If you or your partner studied in Canada for at least 2 years, you could get 5 points.

If you or your partner worked in Canada for at least one year, you could get 5 points.
