Temporary work permit

If you are still outside Canada and are interested in a temporary work permit, you will need first employment offer from Canadian company. The company will have to obtain so called "Labour Market Opinion" - in another words, approval from Service Canada (former HRSDC) to hire a foreign worker. With the exception of few occupations, this means that the company must conclusively prove that they could not find a suitable qualified worker on Canadian labour market.

You may also qualify for temporary work permit if you received provincial nomination certificate and your employer wants you to start before your application for permanent residence is finalized.

HRSDC has recognized that some occupations are in documented shortage and signed agreements with industry representatives about streamlined processing of the applications for Labour Market Opinion.
